my sources | Free Stock High Resolution Images

“A picture is worth a thousand words” Have you noticed that you tend to share images you find on your social media networks that are catchy, high-resolution and visually attractive (text and placement)? You don’t have a camera to take awesome pictures so what do you do- get from sources that have free stock images!

Use beautiful visuals to get more social engagement on your social media platforms. These are my favourite sources- High-resolution pictures for PERSONAL and COMMERCIAL projects for FREE! I know! Sometimes it’s too good to be true!

Unsplash by Crew!

Unsplash

They were the first site I found that offered free images. I love the guys at Crew! Even if i don’t use the images I just love going through them. I love what these guys are doing and as you’ll see on my site, thanks to them, I got most of my images from them and with the recently search feature, it makes sourcing much easier. I also love that I get an email of 10 new photos every 10 days, so subscribe! Thank you guys, really! Free (do whatever you want) high-resolution photos.

Pixabay.

Pixabay

What I love about Pixabay (before Unsplash added their search feature) is that I can put in any word in the search tab and I sure will get an image. Over 360,000 FREE photos, vectors and art illustrations released under CC license! If you’re not registered you have to keep inputting a captcha before you download but as a registered user, no captcha is presented to you. One day I’m going to buy them a cup of coffee, I promise! Your source for free vectors, free drawings and free photos and you can use any Pixabay image without attribution in digital and printed form, even for commercial applications.

morgueFile.

morguefile I want to write a blog post everyday so that I can use images from Morgue File! Just open the website and you’ll know what I’m talking about- from the first page! I think when I have writers blog I’ll just go to the website and stare at the pictures- words are bound to start forming together in my head no doubt! Though you are allowed to copy, distribute, transmit the work and to adapt the work and attribution is not required, you are still prohibited from using this work in a stand alone manner. The morgue file contains free high-resolution digital stock photographs and reference images for either corporate or public use. The purpose of the site is to provide free image reference material for illustrators, comic book artist, designers, teachers and all creative pursuits.

Snapwire Snaps

Snapwire Free too and you can also get custom photos made just for you – guaranteed! You also get 7 free photos every 7 days when you sign up- free to use! And my new Boo!

Stokpic.

Stokpic Stokpic website also makes me want to write a blog post everyday and that has something to do with all the images! 10 new photos sent to me every 2 weeks. It was such a pleasant surprise when I got my first email. I had even forgotten I had signed up. What lovely images- there’s something soft and gentle about Stokkies! Use the high-resolution pictures for personal and commercial projects for free. All pictures on stokpic.com are free from Copyright Restrictions (CC0 1.0 Universal).

If all fails and I really can’t find the image that really suits my needs I use Creative Commons Search.

I just enter my search query and choose which platform I want to search in- Europeana (Media), Flickr (Image), Fotopedia (Image), Google (Web), Google Images (Image), Jamendo (Music), Open Clip Art Library (Image), SpinXpress (Media), Wikimedia Commons (Media), YouTube (Video), Pixabay (Image), ccMixter (Music) This is my own bookmarked ‘Free Image Source’.

Though I really wish I could find more high-res beautiful pictures of people with dark skin (not just models but a woman working on a laptop, holding a camera e.t.c). Sometimes when I write I blog post about something personal it seems so weird to have a picture of a white woman on a laptop or something to illustrate my point! Not complaining guys, I really do appreciate the free images- sometimes I feel guilty when I use them- they are of such good quality and beautiful.

Thank you Unsplash, Pixabay, Morgue File, Snapwire Snaps and my new Boo Stokpic! This list is not enough for you? Check out:
